FRANK MEZZANOTTE
Paintings can be inspired by a photograph or scene that catches my eye but mostly I rely on intuition, imagination and emotion to fill the canvas and hopefully capture the viewer’s interest.
Artist’s Statement
I am basically a self-taught artist and have been painting abstract art for about 7 years. My painting style has developed through continuous self-study, research and experimentation with acrylic paints and mediums on canvas and paper. I consider myself somewhat of an eclectic artist and though my focus recently has been on landscapes I enjoy variety in subject matter. My style is constantly evolving and ranges from semi-abstract to non-representational.
Paintings can be inspired by a photograph or scene that catches my eye but mostly I rely on intuition, imagination and emotion to fill the canvas and hopefully capture the viewer’s interest.
I’ve had a passion for the arts from a young age, which I’ve also expressed through work in stained glass and photography. A retired mechanical engineer, I was born in Italy but have lived in Canada since the age of 6 and now reside in the Port Credit neighborhood of Mississauga with my wife and two teenage daughters.
