Background
Rick’s background with photography has been a cliché, photographing from a young child to eventually owing a B&W / colour negative darkroom for many years until the advent of digital when he took a rest from wet photography. After a brief hiatus where he worked as an electronics technician, then computer programmer and finally as a project manager and when digital technology improved significantly, Rick returned with a renewed vigour to once again create and share images.
Mostly self taught, Rick has expanded his education over the years through various professional courses. Before returning to professional style photography, Rick completed the digital photography certificate course at Humber College to refresh and learn about the new digital techniques in cameras and software. Through practical experience with art and professional associations, Rick has returned to photographic creativity.
From a professional perspective, Rick gained experience by shooting for local newspapers, then by opening a studio, 3 Oaks Photography Inc where he photographed Corporate Headshots, Family Portraits and Weddings for a number of years. Today Rick no longer owns a studio, preferring to shoot on location, rented spaces or in private homes. His photograph of Edward Xu’s “Woman Sewing” appeared on the November 2014 cover of the quarterly edition of Arabella Designs Magazine.
Rick’s website, www.richardkorollphotography.com is a showcase for his personal artwork and creations. Additionally, Rick owns www.3OaksPhotographyInc.com his business website for personal and family portraits, real estate, art works, and small business projects.
