ACRYLIC CLASS OUTLINE
Autumn 2017
This four week course is for all levels, from beginner to advanced artists. A friendly, beautiful environment with encouragement and positivity. We generally work together on two projects, however, students sometimes prefer to work on their own pieces which is fine and those who choose to will receive the same amount of assistance. The instructor begins with a short demonstration and a step by step lesson to achieve goals. Personal attention is given to each student as class sizes are smaller to ensure everyone is receiving the level of assistance they are looking for. Each painting can be executed in a simpler format for beginners as well as adding more complicated elements for the more advanced student.
Students will learn colour mixing and theory, painting techniques including brushwork, palette knife and texturing as well as composition and design. Some sketching and perspective is taught, but the main focus is on painting. Participants are encouraged to step outside their comfort zones and really explore the emotional side of creating artwork.
PROJECTS INCLUDE:
Fall landscape using brushes and palette knife. This will focus on how colours work together as well as creating texture.
Weather permitting, one of these classes for this project will be a plein air experience.
Still life will be the focus of our second project which will include three dimensional theory and layering as well as glazing techniques to create a glow.
