Biography
Peter Rowe is a filmmaker, painter, photographer and writer. His latest series of paintings, titled “Animology’, looks at nature and animals from a perspective that is sometimes whimsical, sometimes more serious. He has travelled widely to the most remote parts of the world, filming his TV series “Angry Planet”, currently showing on The Weather Network. He has made dozens of other films – features, television series, and documentaries. His long career as a filmmaker and artist is documented in his memoir “Adventures in Filmmaking”, available at amazon. His latest book is titled “Angry Planet – Photographs by Peter Rowe”
He works in acrylics, using a magic-realistic style to create works that spring from a blend of the real world and his own imagination. He has studied at Visual Arts Mississauga. He is currently working on a major new series titled “Paintings on Painting”, and also is beginning to work in neon art. He has recently exhibited at the Curran Gallery, the Ben Navaee Gallery, Creeds Coffee Bar and the Barrie Spring Art Show.
