ROXANNE MARTIN
“It’s about passion; the desire’s got to be there. Before I start a new piece, I make sure that I want to do it. If my heart’s not in it, then I’m just wasting my time.”

Biography
Roxanne Martin
Roxanne is an accomplished North American artist and professional photographer who graduated with an honors degree in Fine Arts from the University of Alberta and began her professional career with a solo show at the SUB Gallery in 1974. An early highlight in her career was the creation of the first graphite show for her works at the prestigious Woltjen-Udell Gallery (renamed Doug Udell Gallery) in 1984, where she was featured alongside such artists as Andy Warhol and Christopher Pratt. Her fine works are found in many corporate and private collections throughout the world including rodeo legend Ty Murray, an American nine-time World Champion rodeo cowboy and co-founder and board advisor of the Professional Bull Riders. Molson Breweries of Canada Ltd. commissioned an original painting to be used for their 1996-1998 Coors Chute-Out poster, along with t-shirts and a collector’s edition of beer cans. In 1997, Wrangler Inc. invited Martin to participate in the Wrangler Champion Endorsee Program and was featured across Canada in a CBC documentary which can still be seen on television and YouTube today.
Roxanne is originally from Alberta but had always dreamed of living on Vancouver Island. In 2011, she made the move to Sooke, B.C. and since her arrival, the water and the sky have captured her attention and allowed her to focus on one of her early passions, sculpture.
